These descriptions are presented to let you know how we may encourage you in your Christian walk and illustrate how you can serve others by serving Christ

This list includes most, but by no means all, of the various committees, ministries & areas of service within Liberty Baptist Church.  Listen for pulpit announcements, watch the media messages prior to worship, read the church bulletin and the weekly E-News to find out how you can fully participate in Liberty Life

If a ministry you desire to serve with (or require assistance from) is not listed, speak with the Pastor.  He will direct you to the appropriate committee or member that best suits your needs.

AWANA MINISTRY:

“Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed” meets every Wednesday night during the school year to reach boys and girls with the Gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him. Teaches through three club segments: Game time draws kids to the club; Council/Story time teaches Bible stories and Christian living; & handbook time uses small group study and one-on-one discipleship for kids to memorize Scripture and Books of the Bible.

UPWARD SOCCER

Upward is a non-denomination Christian organization that brings the message of Jesus to kids and families thru sports.  Liberty sponsors a fall league for boys and girls age 4 and up. There is 1 practice and 1 game each week ( total of 8 games during the year).  Needed: Coaches, Devotion Leaders, Concessions & General Helpers. 

 

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY:

Outreach to the children of Liberty and the community.  Establishes a strong and structured curriculum for Children’s Church and Sunday School classes from two years to sixth grade.  Organizes activities, outings, programs, and community outreach that offer fellowship and spiritual growth. Responsible for Children’s Church, Children’s Choir, Kid’s Camp, Christmas & Easter Musicals, Back to School Blast, Vacation Bible School and the annual “I Love Jesus Party”.

 

MEN’S MINISTRY:

Bringing men of all ages together in order to lead them to Christ, develop a deeper relationship with Him, equip them to nurture and serve their families, and to evangelize their communities. Planning and providing activities throughout the year that promote spiritual growth and fellowship.  Organizes Prayer Breakfasts, Bible Studies and the occasional Sportsmen’s Banquets.

 

SINGLES MINISTRY:

Encourages spiritual growth of young adults by organizing outings, activities & Sunday school plus meeting, mingling & connecting with other Christian singles.

 

WOMEN’S MINISTRY:

Brings together women of all ages and stages of life. Lead them to Christ, develop a deeper relationship with Him, equip them to nurture and serve their families, and to evangelize their communities based on the Word of God and prayer.  Planning and providing activities throughout the year that encourage spiritual growth and fellowship.

 

YOUNG AT HEART MINISTRY:

Ensures that senior members (55 & older) have fun and enjoyable activities together.  Plans retreats, shopping trips, group tours or other activities that promote Christian fellowship.

 

YOUTH MINISTRY:

Under the leadership of the Youth Pastor, offers relevant programs, events and worship opportunities that connect 7th thru 12th grade students into relationships with Christ & each other.  Requires mentors, chaperones & workers throughout the year.

 

PRAYER FOCUS MINISTRY:

Establishes a strong prayer ministry for the entire church by encouraging prayer for all programs, activities and endeavors of Liberty. Calls regular times of corporate prayer and prayer for special needs.  Organizes and maintains the prayer chain for urgent needs of the church and community.  Organizes, disciples, and trains a team of intercessors.

 

HOMEBOUND MINISTRY:

Ministers to members, from the smallest child to oldest adult, unable for physical reasons to attend church. Arranges flowers or gifts for hospital stays & fruit baskets at Christmas and a gift or money on birthdays.

 

MISSIONS MINISTRY:

Keeps Liberty members informed of mission opportunities. Plans special outreach for our long and short term missionaries.  Takes applications for mission trip financial assistance from the Bill & Dee Pryor Missions Fund.

 

OUTREACH VISITATION MINISTRY:

Makes a home visit to all first time Liberty guests and visitors.  Welcomes them, offers assistance, educates them about the various programs at Liberty, and prays with them.  Visits inactive members to encourage them in their faith.  Main objective is reaching lost people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

 

PANTRY MINISTRY:

Leading people to Christ through the command to “Love thy neighbor as thyself”.  Open every Saturday morning to help feed those in need, both inside and outside the church. Volunteers pick up supplies, stock shelves and pack boxes of groceries, including Christian literature in each.  Others are needed to teach short Bible lessons and pray / counsel with Pantry visitors each week..

 

BENEVOLENCE COMMITTEE:

Investigates benevolence requests within and without Liberty and responds accordingly, spending as budgeted by the church.

 

DEACONS:

Elected by the church body; supporting the Pastor in his work.  Each deacon has specific families to whom he ministers as needed.

 

USHERS & GREETERS MINISTRY:

Welcomes visitors & members to Liberty with a smile and a warm handshake.  Escorting visitors to their seats, assisting with any special needs they may have.  Inform visitors of church facilities and programs.  Receives the offering & distributes literature.

 

VAN AND BUS OUTREACH MINISTRY:

Picks up anyone needing transportation to Sunday morning church services. Maintains church bus and vans in safe operating condition.  Arranges repairs and preventive maintenance as needed.

 

NURSERY MINISTRY:

Provides a safe environment for children from birth to three years.  Ensures there are enough workers for each age group for all church-wide activities.  Maintains each room with toys, Christian videos & supplies such as baby wipes, sheets & snacks.  Ensures that each room is ready for the next use.

 

SHOWER COMMITTEE:

Provides showers for all weddings and births.  Responsible for set-up and decorations.  Provide refreshments with help from Sunday School classes.

 

DAY CARE COMMITTEE:

Acts as liaison between the church and the Day Care.  Meets as needed to help the Director formulate operational guidelines and provides financial leadership.

 

CHRISTIAN ACADEMY COMMITTEE:

Acts as liaison between the church and the Academy.  Meets as needed to help the Director formulate operational guidelines and provides financial leadership.

 

MUSIC MINISTRY:

Assists the Music Director in leading the congregation into a worshipful experience through choir, praise team, soloists and special music thereby setting the stage for God to move through the delivery of the Pastor’s message.  Annual Christmas and Easter productions require actors, singers,  non-speaking performers, back stage workers and tech support.

 

SOUND / MEDIA MINISTRY:

Operates Sound / Media / Video & Stage Lighting systems throughout the church campus. Provides quality sound & visuals during Worship services, special events & Praise Team / Choir practices. Records and streams each service. Responsible for the operation and maintenance of microphones, monitors, computer equipment, cameras and stage lighting fixtures.

 

LIBRARY  MINISTRY:

Supports all other ministries by making books and audio/visual material available to all church members.   Responsible for data entry & bar-coding. Scans all items as they are borrowed & returned. Assists with establishing Library policies.

 

SUNDAY SCHOOL COMMITTEE:

Establishes and maintains a strong Sunday School curriculum for all ages. Plans and directs training sessions for teachers and class leaders. Maintains class records.

 

LORD’S SUPPER COMMITTEE:

Oversees that the communion set is clean, neat and attractive.  Secures the necessary elements for the service.  Prepares the Lord’s Supper Table, fills the glasses and the bread plates. Supervises the collection of glasses and returns the set to storage.

 

BAPTISMAL COMMITTEE :

Assists the Pastor and candidates for Baptism. Fills and warms the baptistery. Ensures tarps, towels and mops are on hand. Drains baptistery and returns area to regular use.

 

DECORATING COMMITTEE:

Strives to make God’s House beautiful and well kept. Decorates the Sanctuary for all holidays and special occasions. Maintains Sanctuary decor and selects aesthetic items for remodeling and decorating the church campus.

 

NOMINATING COMMITTEE:

Co-ordinates the staffing of all church leadership positions that are filled by volunteers as determined by the church by-laws.  Prayerfully select, interview, and enlist qualified church leaders for volunteer positions in each Ministry.

 

BUDGET AND FINANCE COMMITTEE:

Prepares and submits to the church a proposed budget for each fiscal year.  Remains active during the year to audit income and expenditures to ensure proper operation of the budget.  Serves as counsel of advice to the church on all financial matters.  Includes the Treasurer, Deacon Chairman, Teller Chairman and two elected members.

 

TELLER COMMITTEE:

Responsible for counting and depositing all church monies, including regular and special offerings, into the bank accounts established by the church.

 

ACTIVITIES & SOCIAL EVENTS COMMITTEE:

Plans and carries out activities for the entire church family, accommodating all age groups, promoting unity and fellowship among all members.  Ensures that facilities are ready for each event and arranges clean-up.

 

BUILDING AND GROUNDS COMMITTEE:

Charged with making the church and grounds the most attractive & well-kept property in the community.  Regularly inspects the condition & appearance of the buildings, grounds and equipment.  Recommends and arranges preventive maintenance & repairs as needed.  Recommends policies for use of church facilities.

 

CEMETERY COMMITTEE:

Meets with mortuary representatives and family of the deceased to select gravesites. Maintains records of plots and ensures family members understand rules governing the cemetery.
